Last updated: 30 October 2026 Covers: the Drunk Proof iPhone app and this website (ndsstudio.co.uk) Who we are: Sarah Carmody trading as NDS Studio ("we", "us"), United Kingdom Contact: hello@ndsstudio.co.uk
The short version
Drunk Proof does not collect, send or sell any of your personal data. There's no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything you set up in the app stays on your iPhone.
What the app stores, and where
Drunk Proof saves the following only on your iPhone, in the app's own storage (shared between the app and its built-in Screen Time extensions on the same phone):
| Information | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Safe contacts you add (name and phone number) | So you can call or text them while Drunk Proof is on | Stays on your phone |
| Your settings (unlock time, which tests to use, waiting times) | To run the app the way you chose | Stays on your phone |
| Your sober test scores (typing time, maths time, reaction time) | To set the pass marks for unlocking early | Stays on your phone |
| Whether Drunk Proof is on, when it unlocks, and how many times a locked app was opened | To run the lock and show you the morning summary | Stays on your phone |
| The date you accepted the terms, and which version | To record that you agreed | Stays on your phone |
| Your choice of safe apps and websites | So they stay unlocked | Apple gives Drunk Proof anonymous "tokens" for these, not app names. They stay on your phone, and we can't see which apps you chose |
We never receive any of this. If your iPhone is backed up (for example to iCloud), this information may be included in that backup, which Apple handles under its own privacy policy.
Deleting your data: remove a contact in Setup, clear your scores on the Test tab, or delete the app to remove everything it has stored.
Features that use Apple's services
- Screen Time. Drunk Proof uses Apple's Screen Time framework (Family Controls) to lock apps on your own phone. Apple runs this on your device and does not tell us which apps you use or how you use them.
- Choosing a contact. When you tap "Add from Contacts", Apple's contact picker opens. Drunk Proof does not ask for access to your address book. It only receives the name and phone number of the one contact you pick.
- Calls and texts. Calls go through your iPhone's Phone app. Texts are sent with Apple's own message window (SMS or iMessage). You see each message and choose whether to send it. Drunk Proof doesn't keep a copy, and the message is handled by Apple and your mobile network, not by us.
- Notifications. The "you're unlocked" reminder is created on your phone. Nothing is sent to us.
- Taxi button. "Book an Uber" opens the Uber app or website. From then on, Uber's own privacy policy applies.
What we don't do
- No analytics, crash reporting or advertising tools, and no third-party software that collects data.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
- No selling or sharing of personal data, because we don't have any.
- No internet connection is used by Drunk Proof itself.
If you contact us
If you email us, we'll use your email address and message only to reply and help you. We keep them for as long as needed to deal with your query, and then for up to 12 months in case you get back in touch. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering you. We don't add you to any mailing list. Emails to our address are passed to our inbox by Cloudflare's email forwarding service.
Age
Drunk Proof is only for people aged 18 or over. We don't knowingly receive any information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have rights over personal data held about you, including to access, correct or delete it. Because Drunk Proof keeps your information on your phone, you can see and delete it yourself in the app. For anything else, such as emails you've sent us, contact hello@ndsstudio.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

Changes
If we change this policy, for example because we add a new feature, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what happens to your data, we'll tell you in the app.
